These lads have been awesome to work with over the years, but I'd not shot the two of them together in a long time, and it was a riot. The younger one, Tudor, would sneak behind my back to crack his brother up, making faces while we were trying to shoot, and so of course when it was his turn, the brother got his revenge, cracking the other up with silly distorted phone camera snaps. Ah brothers! I was kind of stunned, when I asked them to let me take a couple of shots of them together, and they gave me this beautiful, tender moment.
I love watching the kids grow up! I've had the pleasure of shooting with Taylor a few times now, and we always have a blast. She is turning out to be a rather impressive young woman, and I'm excited to watch her career evolve in the years to come. Go get 'em tiger!
Thank you to Anya Ellis for the terrific hair and makeup.
A dear old friend, a showbiz veteran in both acting and voice work, a cool mom, and dynamite on a dancefloor. It was such a pleasure to get Maggie in front of my camera again after so many years. I think the last time we shot together it was on black and white film. Seriously.
This was a simple shoot at her home, some inside, some out.
Amy is a gem of a person and a cherished friend of mine. As much as I love to do a shoot with someone so close and dear, it can sometimes be challenging to capture in an image the qualities that make that person special to me. Well, not this time! It felt so natural it was as if the camera wasn't there at all.
I absolutely loved every minute I got to spend working with this smart, funny, warm and witty woman. Nevermind that she's gorgeous too (!) I wish she needed new headshots every month! Thanks you to my friend Hank for the use of his space.
So good to re-connect with clients from long ago. Jessica and I got along famously right from the start, and the chemistry is still all there. It was great to make some new images with her on my latest Seattle trip. Thanks to Roland 'Pakio' Nevarez on makeup and hair.
Once again, the theatre students at Cornish in Seattle have amazed me with their off-the-charts levels of emotional intelligence, dedication to their art, humour, and warmth. I absolutely love working with these talented men and women, and look forward to watching their careers evolve. There are just too many for me to be able to include them all here - my apologies to those I've left out. Big thank you to Roland 'Pakio' Nevarez on hair and makeup.
This was Jordan's first professional headshot session, but he handled himself like a seasoned pro, and we got shots that make him look like one.
I'm always quite honoured when parents bring their kids back to me for headshots again and again, especially when they start bringing more family and friends to get their shots done too. On this lovely day in August, two moms brought two kids each to Granville Island and we had a blast.
A few shoots here and there, but mostly a whole lot of quality time with a certain little miss. I traveled for a few weeks to Ontario and Quebec, and made plenty of trips to the beautiful beaches and parks of Vancouver, but my camera rarely came with me. Here nevertheless are a few highlights from both the business and the personal:
I'd photographed Nicole a few years back as part of an agency headshot day for ReelKids.
She made an impression on me even though it was a short session. Now she's grown into a remarkable young woman and I was delighted to work with her for a full photo session.
We took advantage of the weather and did an all-outdoor shoot in my neighborhood of Strathcona. She was really a treat to work with - light and easy-going, but with plenty of depth.
Robert and I did our first shoot about 5 years ago, and I was very happy to work with him again as he is a lovely, warm, and entertaining fellow. I was a little nervous, however, because we really nailed it the last time and got a shot that was a portfolio favorite of mine for quite a while, and so I had the challenge of topping myself. I'm pretty sure we managed nicely.
It's no secret that I'm a big fan of kids and babies, and I love having opportunities to capture some of the magic. It can, however, be rather challenging. How do you get a 2 year-old to interact with a diaper? Peek-a-boo of course!
Here's a small company that's growing quickly. I was only able to shoot for a half-hour or so before temptation got the better of me!
Sean's an all-around great guy. We were going for a bit of a mean look here, but don't be fooled - he's anything but. He's a solid actor to boot. It was great to get him in front of my camera again.
Shawn and I first shot together a few years back. it was good then, even better this time. So many killer photos that it's really hard to choose just a few.
This striking, spunky actress was like a ray of sunshine. I look forward to us working together again sometime. Props to Anya for the styling and support.
I really enjoy my work, even when it gets challenging, but it's most rewarding when I get to work with someone as charming and gorgeous as Andrea. It would be difficult, I think, for anyone to get a bad shot of her, but I'm quite happy with how these turned out, and I look forward to seing her face on the screen and in print.
Shanti shot with me a few times when she was a teenager - way back in the days when we used film. She's grown into a remarkable and beautiful young woman and it warmed my heart that we still have a great chemistry.
It was the night before the night before Christmas... the show was a blast, the funk was deep and the love was showing. It sure was a whole lot louder than our past sessions in my studio!
